Anyone know of some good water spot removers?

50/50 solution of white vinegar and distilled water. It works great and is cheap. A giant jug of white vinegar only costs a couple bucks and will last through the season.

Find somewhere to buy a polish by the name of FLITZ. That stuff is amazing. After you get the spots off. Use a good qualiy product for was and a spray maintenance to keep them away. Such as BABES Boat Brite. Let me know if you want any Babe's Boat Brite.

I use the 50/50 with vinegar and then a few teaspoons of liquid wax. It makes the vinegar smell pretty, and waxes as you go. It is not enough to keep the boat waxed, however.

I find that I can use just about anything if the boat has been waxed recently. Even just using the towel on it will take most away, if the boat is wet and recently waxed.

There are some heated debates as to whether vinegar strips the wax off. I don't think it does, but the guys who wax their boats the most seem to have the least problems with water spots. That jives with my personal experience.

I have always use 50/50 mix of white vinegar and windex. Gets rid of all
hard water spots and keeps everything looking like brand new. Ducky
is too expensive for my budget.

I took you all's advise and started using the water/vinegar/wax stuff and it is great.

Thanks :ro:

Ditto on the water/vinegar mix and we follow it up with a quick spray wax treatment. I would like to try adding the wax to the water/vinegar mix and cut down steps of the clean-up. I was under the impression that the vinegar impacts the wax but I don't know.

water and vinegar works well. There is also polish in an orange bottle, it takes them right off. Forgot what it was called, but can look tonight.

It works great
I go to lake Mojave and when its 120+ out you get spots fast.
When I get home to some shade, I just spray it on and let it sit for about 2 min.
Then wipe off. ( make sure not to get any on your vinyl)
After wiping off, I use some of there flag ship wax and to boat looks as good as new.
To do everything, takes about 45 min on my boat.

I used to use that stuff and go through those motions. Then I found the BABE'S Boat Products. I can use it in the SUN, SHADE, DAY, NIGHT it doesn't really matter and it takes off all the water spots. I don't have to worry about getting it on the vinyl, All it does it cleans the vinyl if I get it on it. And the best part is that my boat has never had a slicker surface on it. After using this stuff you just don't walk on the fiber glass with socks or you may go down. I am not real impressed with the BABE's Seat Soap though. I use DUCKY to clean the seats but follow it with the BABES SEAT SAVER and that stuff works great plus it has the UV protections for the seats.

My vote is for Babe's. I use it and I wouldn't select anything else. But, there is so many other products out there, you might want to check each product out over time...... :02:

Just for maintenance no problems. I am having bearings and seals repacked, greased, and cleaned and brakes adjusted.

fun fun fun. It would be intersting to see who else does that every year. I find it hard to believe you need it that much. but I guess after your experience I see why.

well windex works great, but if you have waterspots, like I did, use this stuff called "the Works" from wal-mart, it works amazing! then after you get the spots off, windex takes the day to day spots offf.

Windex is more expensive than Babes Boat Brite and it dryes out the Gel-Coat. So even if it is not more expensive I don't know if I would use it. The amonia properties of Windex strip out any UV protection you have put on with any other type of wax. That is straight from the Gel-Coat manufactues. BE CAREFULL WITH WINDEX long term effects.

windex on windows, not boat.

Distelled water and vinegar is great. It took us about 3 applications and heavy scrubbing but It came off and looks good as new.

That works good, also the minute spray waxs with a tablespoon of alcohol (Bacardi) for the really tough stuff.
All the water spot removers seem to take the wax off.

We use vinegar and water, or straight vinegar when we take the boat outta the water.
Then a coat of 3M UV protecting boat wax.
The wax helps keep water spots from forming next time in.
You can apply it in sunlite on a hot hull too, it's very easy on and easy off.
3M products are colossal.

It's work, but the Tige' sound system and
your iPod and Arizona Ice tea makes the job go smoother.

Plus it's a good time to fuss with your boat, because at this step, the kids will for sure leave you alone.

I too vote for 50/50 vinegar/water. I used it on the last boat and now my 20V. Doesn't seem to take wax off either. :02:
