I posted this over under "suggestions & feedback" but it is moving slow. What do you guys think about a section for ballast related threads :ro:

I'm torn on the idea. I like maybe a FAQ in the How-To section that links to ballast installs and has some general questions. Matt could update it when a new install is worthy of being added.

Why not? Of course it'll only work if people put stuff in the right category. I've noticed general is getting slammed the last couple weeks by stuff that there's already categories for.

I think that is's because its the first one we all check:02:

They are also Tige AZ http://www.tigeaz.com/index.htm ..... e-mail info@tigeaz.com phone 480-655-9055

I think the www.rivalindustries.com is still under construction.

Was that a "yes" for a ballast catergory ? :ro:

Yes for ballast category.......

I think that most people will not look under the category unless it is clearly marked. When I am busy (most of the time) I only check the general threads.

i just find it easiier to call them. I called them, and they shipped my new bags and switches had them the next day.

For me it's easier to go to the main link and scroll down the categories and threads to see what's new.

i just like to see what's new, and see if I can post to it:) I normally can post something.

I don't think matt want's to split it up into too many differnt things.

I haven’t really seen a justification yet for a ballast category. Every time I read this thread or the other one in the feedback section I can’t seem to make up my mind.

I don’t want to create another Sub category unless it’s a popular topic. I have noticed Ballast threads seem to be on the fence as of now.

Anyone else have any thoughts/concerns?

Thanks for the reply, Matt.

Did a quick Ballast search this morning and found:

New Ballast related threads/post past 30 days........11 threads/123 posts
New Ballast related threads/post 2007..........30 threads/ 615 posts.

Now, I know that not every one of those 615 posts are on topic, just wanted to see how active this topic was. This was not a search for every thread that had the word "ballast" in it, but ones that the poster had a ballast related question or comment regarding installs, options, weighting, placement of weight, new products, etc.

Thanks again for all you do on this Forum. :ro:

I think The ballast catagory is a more used topic here on tigeowners and there allover right now, General Discussion, General technical Questions, Acessories and Equip. If it was placed under say tech. overview then it would all be in one place...:02:

As I am researching what bags to get and from where, it would be sweet to just be able to look in one place. I mean really, MOST of us are smart, if we are looking for stereo stuff, we go there. DOMZ just goes to off-topic. DA just posts whereever he lands.

I would say make a new category and leave the general to the general stuff.
Maybe leave a sticky link to some of these cats at the top of the general cat.

Like I said before it makes a lot of sense to have it in the How-To as a sticky with a FAQ that answers common questions and links to the install threads. On top of that maybe a sticky in the General Section that links to commonly asked questions like iPod hookups, ballast installs, etc.

It was not meant as a slam on you guys. An incomplete thought yes, meant as a slam, no. Sorry if it came across that way. I was merely pointing out that you guys in particular, lately, are posting everywhere, and most people look into the cats they are looking for info on. Its the rare folks that post something completely in the wrong category.

I just noticed there was a stereo category. I am guilty of posting almost anything I think of in the 'general' section. It gets the most traffic and that is what I want. If I had any good input for anyone's stereo, they missed out because I don't have time to shop on every forum. I love stereo stuff, and am sure I have missed some good points.

I think that a format like http://www.crfsonly.com/forum/index.php would be a little nicer as the traffic has grown here. That would allow me to browse quicker through some of the other categories. That site has some good information on motorcycles.

Da Bell, I haven't really been bothered by your posts, but at 95 posts per day, you cannot possibly have really productive information that often. As of right now, you have added nearly 1900 posts to the site...how much of it is something that I will find useful when I am searching for a solution to a problem later?

What's the difference between that and http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/index.php?

Why don't you just push the "New Posts" button so that it shows all of the posts since you last logged on. Then you can see all of the threads in any category.:02:

Ya that's what I do every time I log into the site. I love it cuz you dont have to browse through all the different sections.. it just shows all the new posts from every section.

your friend board + full ballast = friend happy
everyone needs ballast :ro:

but who cares about friends anyways?!

btw I was just kidding. As a fellow skier and ex-owner of a Tige Tournament ski boat I understand that ballast and skiers do not mix!
