I just bought a shower for my 22V. For those of you who have one, where did you mount the control unit?

My dealer installed mine on the removeable panel in the back of the starboard rear hatch. He did a cut-out in the panel. It worked out real nice and is convenient standing on the platform.

Paublo, if you get a chance, could you shoot a picture of it? I'd like to see how far back he put it in the panel, and also If you could show the water connections I'd be grateful.

No problem shooting a couple of pictures- just give me a couple of days.

This is with the access panel removed and you can see the mounting of the pump.

And here is the hot water connection taken from the opposite side of the engine.

Thanks for the photos, this should help quite a bit. I may bypass the pump and tap into the pressure side of the impeller inlet. This would allow the boat motor to pressurize the shower. The only drawback I can see is the motor must be running to operate the shower.

Isn't the pump furnished with the shower kit which includes the valve, hose, pump, etc. If that is the case, why not just install it?

I have a different shower kit. This one is from Attwood and doesn't include a pump.

here is the shower - http://www.attwoodmarine.com/products/parts.asp?ProductID=88&path=pumps&category=1&gtype=3&group=2&subgroup=0&categoryname=&typename=&headername=

That should work just fine. DIY feedback is always helpful when you're done.

We installed the Shower this weekend (my 8 year old daughter and I). It works great, and my wife is happy that it is out of the way and in it's own cabinet. Total time for install was approx. 2 hours, and I thank Tige' Watersports boat gurus Ariel and Greg for their assistance on showing me what parts I may need and which lines I could cut on my new engine. Here is the detail of the process for a 22V -

1) Take out the hot water port plug on the top port side of the block, (use an allen Wrench) and replace with a 1/2" x 1/2" threaded to nipple adapter. Then connect 1/2 ID heater hose.

Now you need to find the cold water intake. On the 22V on the stern end of the motor locate the impeller housing and on the Starboard side is the pressure side. following it up it is the hose shown here. The silver canister is a transmission cooling adapter, you will need to cut the hose before the adapter. install a tee with a 1/2" port to hook up your cold water heater hose.

Install your pump. I placed mine in the starboard compartment in the rear. I Mounted the pump to the backside of the aft bulkhead below the opening.

The factory pre-wires a shower toggle on the dash, and the wiring is active to this compartment. The wiring is very straightforward, and takes all of about 2 minutes. I used waterproof wire nuts.

Next we cut out an opening in the factory door opening and installed the shower box. On the back side we waterproofed the wood and re-covered it with I/O carpeting and the original welting.

We then plumbed hot water port to hot connection, cold to cold and combined to the new pump. From the pump out to the shower head.

Then close up the compartment, and you have a shower. I also placed a lock on the door to keep it from opening and allowing quick service entry if needed.

and the engine box is now back to normal with shrouds in place, and all hoses out of view and out of the way for the belts and pulleys.
