Just wondering what most of you w/ Extreme trailers have as your ball height and is there any special wiring needed to be done? I have a Ford and I am wondering if there is a plug that is offered to go right into the tow package plug on the Ford?

I don't know how new your Ford is, but if you have the large 7 pin outlet from the factory since '96, you will be in good shape. You will need an adapter plug for your new trailer which is a flat "5" pin plug. The 5th pin is connected to your reverse lights, and Ford pre-wires for it. This will lock out the trailer brake surge lock when backing the trailer. Tige Watersports carries it in stock as does the RV supply down the street from them.
As far as hitch drop, you will need to measure that on your own when hooked up with your vehicle. I have a 2wd '04 Expedition which I use a 2" drop for towing. I had a '00 2wd Excursion with a 4" drop turned up for towing. All you need to do is put a level on the trailer with your current hitch, and estimate a level towing attitude. You can even get a new drawbar at Tige Watersports while you are getting your plug adapter.

Currently I have a 14" drop hitch which to the top of the ball from the ground is close to 20".
Hitch is rated at 5,000 lbs. towing capacity and 500 lbs tongue weight. Just looking to get an idea from everyone so the trailer is weighted correctly.

I believe it's 17"-19" from the ball to the ground.

19" to the top of the ball. I have an Expeditiion and I had to get a 6" drop on my hitch. I also went with a solid hitch rated at 10,000 lbs. as well as an 1 1/4" shaft on the ball.(Keep the jokes to yourself on my last sentence).

Yeah I am thinking where I am at may be good. I got a ball with a 2" shank. 10,000 lbs. ? Whooah

My Expedition had a ffactory four plug and I needed fifth for the surge brake. I bought a five plug and spliced the reverse wire onto the reverse light wire behind the cover. All the wires are color coded so it was a no brainer.

I was just told today by a friend that all I have to ask for is the Ford adapter? That he uses the round I think 7 pin and everything works fine. I have a 2002 with the towing package and it seems like everyone had to make some sort of mod to get the trailer to work. Should I even worry about this now or tomorrow when I pick it up? Seems like the big round connector would be the way to go. Forgive me for my ignorance..

If you are picking it up at Tige watersports in Corona, they have the adapters in stock and will get you going. You should have no worries. When I picked up in December, I only had the large plug on my truck from the tow package from Ford. Tige' had the adapter ready for me.

same here... I had assumed it was a 4 wire harness like most of the other trailers that I've had. I've got a 7-wire jack on my 2500HD, but the Ski Dock in Austin had the 7 to 5 converter cable in stock.
