That was my thought at 230 lbs I wouldn't trust a 2 litter bottle. I thought I would by one of those Hinekien mini kegs and use that with water inside (no way I would waste beer like that ;) )
Another way to keep the bottle and board from seperating is to run an old bike tube under there. Cut the tube to the length you need with the board and bottle and then run a round head screw though the deck and with some washers and an nut to hold the rubber tube in place. It should still roll find from side to side but wouldn't send you flying

that might just work i could buy a blank skate deck for 30-40 bucks for my local shop (infinityskateshop.com) and maybe a 2 lieter bottle for me because im only 155lbs if that!...but then again im only 14

Good deal. I have not tried yet. I am not so sure I will find something strong enough for my 230 lbs with out it exploding or crushing it that is cheap

well i was thinking about upgrading to my shop board for the indo thing like a real deck but i was using an old walmart skate board on the indo and it wouldn't support as much as a regular skate deck i heard it cracking or maybe the ice breaking i used a frozen 2 lieter im not so sure on the 2leiters of soda or water but the mini keg would work:D

I'm thinking about trying a piece of 4" dia PVC! I like the idea about the innertube/rubber to keep it from slipping off.

I made one of these for my kids...went to local skate shop for grip tape. All you need is some high quality 3/4" plywood (finish grade) and 4" PVC. Taper the corners, sand the edges and you're done.
We made ours in 30 min.

Well, got around to making my Indo Board. Started w/ a piece of scrap 6" PVC. Used a piece of 3/4 plywood I had in the shop. Bevelled the edges and sanded the whole thing. Stuck on a couple of strips of non-skid from Lowes. Put on a few coats of poly....done :)
Non-skid from Lowes.....$9.95
Scrap PVC from construction site.......5 to 10 in minimum security :o
left over plywood........still need to finish up that project
polyurethane.......wasted money on water based
watching the wife bust her a$$ on this thing......PRICELESS  :D

I made my own as well. I used 4" PVC cut to 18" long. I also filled it with sand to give it some rolling resistance. I had an old skateboard I bought off of ebay that I use. Works really well.
Put my son on it before he went snowboarding, over spring break. Decreased his learning curve, dramatically. Now to get him on a wakeboard.

The following guide is pretty good!
It has the correct dimensions of the indo board too, including some cool youtube videos on some cutting techniques. I recommend you take a look!

Those are some pretty slick set ups.:ro: We used to use the ol' two liter bottle and skate deck back in the day when I skated all the time, probably even before the bongo board. If you are trying to truly replicate skateboarding there is no substitute for the bottle and deck, but you will pop it over time. It will be messy when it does. If you do the bottle the cap is a week spot if you are doing pop shuv its or something that requires air and land on the cap. Also watch the windows as the board can quickly become a rocket!
