View Full Version : I-Tunes i-Mix

Ok here is an idea for you guys.
I just made a sports i-mix with my boarding tunes. After reading the tread about guys boarding music I thought it would be cool to post each of our mixes to i-tunes (if you use it) and we can sample the music and buy if we like some of your songs.
The Basics
Create a Playlist and name it Tigeowners (insert your name here)
example Tigeowners Coach
click the arrow on the right of your playlist. It will ask you if you want to make and i-mix.
Make an i-mix and create it as a sports i-mix vs the regular i-mix.
This way we only have to type in Tigeowners under the search in the store and we can find your mix.
I posted mine tonight but it might not be up for a day or two.
Wada you think?

What's a good alternative? Limewire?
I need a re-vamp of my playlist.

Nope....limewire is monitored. Just about all the P2P clients are monitored pretty heavily, especially the ones that you have to share to get placement.
Using IRC with packet monitoring is the only way to go.

Hmm, I've never used Limewire or any other P2P, too afraid Lars Ulrich would show up on my doorstep with a bat.
Guess I will look into IRC.

Anyway, back to the itunes....I personally dont use, but I would love to see your playlists fellas, so post them up.
Can you listen to playlist without purchasing to preview them @ itunes store?

We use the "free" Limewire. 95% of downloads are clean. As far as sharing, I just empty the "shared" file after I pull them into I-Tunes.
Anyway, i'll have to set up a "ridin mix", cool idea.

Yes you can preview the music without purchase. It has 30sec cut of the song.
Many times I use I tunes to listen to some songs I like then use limewire to get the song and import it into my i-tunes.

It is a great idea Coach. For those that don't use iTunes to purchase your music you can still submit an iMix for others to look at and download from their favorite (Rhapsody, Napster, etc). And, like Coach said, you'll get a 30 second preview to know if you like it or not. I'll probably try and get mine together this weekend.

I use the free version of Limewire as well. To date I've downloaded over 1700 mp3's and have quite a diverse collection amassed. Man that's a big word for me this early! :p

If'n i remember right (at least when the music police started that) everybody sharing was a a prime suspect unless you belonged to a music club and paid a fee. I joined All Cool Music immediately for a one time fee, they supplied Limewire and you downloaded, The rules may have changed but you notice you don't hear squat about it anymore?
Razz, Lars is gonna show up at your doorstep....
Limewire here, too. I move the file out of the shared folder as soon as the download is done.
Lars doesn't scare me none... I did have nightmares about Zakk Wylde knocking on my door after ripping a bunch of Black Label Society one night, though - that dude's a freakin' beast.

Razzman this is another off topic post, but you don't gain security by running more than one firewall. A blocked port is a blocked port. Your best bet is to use a SOHO appliance with a built in hardware firewall and turn off the software ones (like windows firewall, tinyfirewall, norton(YUK)).
And if you use limewire, your IP is on a list somewhere....it might be at the bottom of the list, but your IP is on there for sure. P2P eats up bandwidth and kills your packet speed so bad due to the exhorbent amount of request you will get from other peers or trackers (biTorrent). Free limewire >< free mp3s....free limewire == theft. Use something that is not trackable, or something that is still sticking it to the man, or RIAA in this case.
allofmp3.com (gets away with it by abiding by Russian regulations, and not under the US trade agreements)

Interesting stuff, S-man. I don't understand much of it, but interesting!
For somone like me that is more interested in 'not getting caught by the man' than actually 'sticking it to the man' (in this particular case), what would you recommend I use to download free songs to iTunes? I don't want anyone knocking on my door over this, be it Lars' lawyers, Zakk Wylde, or some G-Man...
Thanks, T*

We also use limewire and somehow I disapled all uploading from my account or folders or whatever. Just the other day i went through all the music folders on my computer... 3500+ songs now down to 1500 in one organized foler. That was no easy task. We had a lot of duplicates of songs. Then Itunes, because I moved all the files around, could not locate all the songs so I had to go through the whole library and relocate all the songs......... :( :(    :(

If you use I-tunes set up a playlist that you board to and make it into a sports i-mix labeled Tigeowners (your screen name here).
If you don't use I-tunes don't worry about it, just post your play list on the this thread. I don't use I-tunes so I will post my songs here thread (http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?p=35238#post35238)

Spharis,
I did not understand what you said about Allofmp3.com, I went there and $1.87 per song seemed steep. I think I will stick with Limewire for now. I thought we were talking about getting free music here.
Anyone noticed how many movie quotes are popping up in people's signatures? I think I spotted a trend. Mine was first!

While you were on the "But Honey, it's a $60,000 dollar bowflex exercise machine..." I had "Dr. Leo Marvin, Dr Leo Marvin..." goin on from "What about Bob?" :p :D
I actually take a different tack in buying my music. It's not as good as free, but I purchase used CD's off of Amazon for $4 - 6 bucks. I get 10 - 13 songs and I can rip them into any format or bit rate I want -- Not a big fan of 128 bit rate on a nice system.

Sometimes if they don't have certain artists contracted with them they will not post the song or if a song is from other areas. My Iron Madien didn't show up because it is from the UK I am sure (the CD is the UK version)

You need to go to the sports i-Mix area and you will find them.
On the left click Music
Then Nike Sports Music (left as well)
and then click See All on the Sport i Mixes and then search Tigeowners
I know it is a few more steps but you should find 3 in there so far

When both Limewire and Itunes are both open, the downloads are viewable in Itunes just as if I put in a CD. Then we drag N drop to library like zad said.
Otherwise, use the "Import" under the "file" dropdown and find the "shared" folder like Razz said.

Chpthril-
Great to know about the Limewire / I tunes thing I never had both open at the same time.
Balair-
Nice mix. Zebrahead guys all are a few years younger than I am but we went to High School together. Joker and the Thief is one of my favorites

Coach,
Have you heard of Slightly Stoopid??? They are on the same label as Pepper.
I have and didn't like their stuff as much. They are just too raw sounding for me, and I like about everything. Both have a bit of a Sublime thing going but Pepper just has a cleaner sound to me.

Sounds good if you like to "pay to play"..........arrrgggg.
I think it's a cool idea...if they let you play all the songs on the list 5 times before you had to buy them. They'd sell more songs that way.
