Taps

I have a 2001 21i the problem I seem to have on a regular baqsic is with the wireing for the taps off the throttle control, the wires short out all the time making the system inoperative the dealer says it was a bad design has anyone else had this prolem or is there a good fix.

Is the black knob with the TAPS switch coming loose?

THE KNOB IS COMING LOOSE ON MY 2000 20i. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED? CAN I TIGHTEN IT?

Yes you can tighten the knob. Do not try to twist and tighten the knob. Look for an allen set screw on the front side of the knob and tighten that. If set screw continues to loosen, take screw out and apply loc-tite.
