Anyone have recommendations on brands of tower lights and tower speakers. I am looking at mako light/speaker combos vs more inexpensive liquid audio but would consider others. Prices on web vary widely.

Have you considered making your own? It's not something everyone has the resources to do, but if your interested here's a link to a very good website.

tige24v,
I HAVE THE SAMSON SPEAKERS AND LOVE THEM. THEY SOUND GREAT, AND THE COOL PART IS THAT THEY CAN SPIN TO FACE FOWARD OR PULL THE KNOB AND THEY COME OFF THE TOWER WITHOUT HAVING TO DISCONNECT ANY WIRES:) HAVEN'T GOT LIGHTS YET, STILL SHOPPING. LOOKING AT 13TH FLOOR LIGHTS.

I don't know what brand mine are, two are home made that I bought from a guy on ebay, they are pretty nice, and the other two i think are soundstream. I haven't hooked them up yet, but will be soon. I like them they are nice, and loud on the home system:)

I built my own out of aluminum piping. The pipe was about $85 + $200 for the weilding and finishing (Powder coating). Got Boss Mounts and some good speakers (JBL) and saved about $500.

I appreciate the replies and different options. I was not aware of samson which now adds another option with those slick mounts. I don't have the time to deal with self build but was impressed with white JBL cans.
Other sites have mentioned many issues with battery run down and the need to upgrade the alternator if you do lights, amps, and tower speakers (at least i have dual batteries). They also mention the lack of effectiveness of the 55w lights in terms of night driving vs. docking - Has anyone experienced this yet ??
Some think the titans throw the most light but I have not seen it in person.
Thanks for the input

Yes the box for the subs is sealed. It was built to the specs of the speakers. They bump pretty hard and the sound travels well to the rider from the entire system.
4 JBL 180 watt tower speakers w/ 600 watt amp
4 Clarion speakers in the boat running off the head unit
2 12in Rockford Fosgate Subs w/ 1400 watt amp
I run dual batteries with my factory alternator. No Problems What So Ever!!

Check out the new Titan Alpha Series - they are JL components with custom shaped enclosures. Another thing is that Titan comes with all the wiring, connectors and instructions.
Slalom Shop will have them on display at the Dallas show.

check out www.loudliquid.com they make some good tower speaker holders and you can get them empty, w/speakers and/or lights. the have some of the different mount options on pixs in thier site. Pretty comparable in price to the others on the market and you can get them to match your boat.

those look good, is it aluminum pipe?

Stainless steel, it was free from my dad's company.
If I did it again, I would probaby use aluminum and put four up there.
But for two, it rocks hard, especially with the four polks in the boat and Fosgates pushing it all

hey.. where can I find some tubing like that? I want to go with stainless, since it is heavier and will reverberate less.

I'm not sure where to find it. My dad is a Mechanical Contractor, so I took some scrap and had one of his welders piece it together.
I still put sound deadening material in it, even as heavy as it is.

hmmm can you ask him the specs on the pipe?

It is 6 1/2" OD , I think Sched 20. I will get the specifics from him next time I see him. Just took some thin SS plate and welded one end shut, the other welded a plate with open center for the speaker to attach to

Here is my set up. A set of B 50's and B62's along with a Boss lightbar. I have since upgraded to a Lightening Accessories bar and love it. The Mako set is gorgeous and the 6x9 box from Loudliquid should crank. I would recommend checking out www.lighteningaccessories.com and www.monstertower.com for some good speaker set ups.

I've used the Titan, with the 6 DST (Daylight Saving Time) lights, 2 facing forward and 4 rear, they worked really well. The Titans actually have a shield inside to direct the light better along with a special lens that is supposed to help. I have been impressed with their output.

Can you guys really see ahead with tower lights? I havent used any but I have used spot lights and couldnt see a thing without puting it below the rub rail.

I have yet to find a set of tower lights that allow you to look ahead, including the Titans. Everything produces glare. We use ours for late night surf sets and docking. It would be great if a company could figure it out, but they are also illegal to use pointing forward at night.

I actually have bow lights and the two titans facing forward. It is still hard to see forward. Would probably be better to face all 6 backwards and just let the drivers eyes adjust to the darkness. However the lights will help you when you are coming up on something... like the bank. Could really go either way with them. The ones facing backwards do a great job lighting up the wake.
