Most of us have seen the pics of the RZ2 and the new tower. My dealer orders there own towers which look good, but I wanted to see if anyone has more info or pics of the Z towers. Who is making the racks? Do they swivel? What does the tower bimini look like? Does the bimini mount like the 2006 so you can use swivel racks?

The Z Series tower is manufactured in house and the racks do swivel. Attached are some images that jeffro sent me from the photo shoot. Maybe he can chime in.

I have not seen the bimini yet.

Different racks and rubbers.

the Z racks are nice... the tower is solid too. Like any tower, it will have some flex in it, but it is solid, doesn't rattle, and the 3" tubes are beefy! The mounts on the deck have a much larger footprint as well.

additionally on the Z tower, the black knob stays in the rack when it is undone. (as in, it does not fall out when you unscrew it to swivel the rack).

never got to see a bimini up on the RZ, but if the bimini is anything like it was on the other 07s, it is all hard mounted (meaning, there are no straps that you have to adjust.)

I agree with jeffro, the racks on the RZ-2 they had here in Austin were very stout. The tower supports also looked a lot more beefy than the previous standard Tige tower.

Does anyone have the offical up charge for getting the Z Tower vs the standard tower? I have heard talk about it costing more, how much more would be nice to know.

Who makes them then, if they are not wake designs? Tige?

I do not know who actually makes them but Tige calls it in house. I know a vendor supplies the rubber to them and it is not Wake Designs. The racks may have a similar look but they are different, hard to make a radical change in the fork for the rack and it still work.

The rack does look different, but the rubbers and handles look identical.

One thing I thought about on those new ones is the forks are not adjustable. I had to adjust a set of mine smaller to fit closer together bindings i.e. my son's.

If look at the new ones they do not have "Wake Designs" stamped into the fork or the rubber handle. The little washer that holds the rubber strap on does not have "WD" on it and is built different.

also, the new Tigé swing racks are solid billet aluminum. Not chromed pot metal sheisse that wake designs uses.

Although the pattern looks the same, they are indeed made differently.
