My TAPS gauge does not seem to be working. The trim tab is going up and down, but the gauge just sits at 7. I tried tapping on the gauge (suggested in prior postings), but that does not seem to get it to work. Is there a way I can test the signal that is sent to the gauge with my multimeter to determine if it is the gauge or the sending unit that is not working?
Anyone have similar problems?

Probably does not help, but my TAPS gauge goes up and down. I've moved the tab and got under the boat to see where it was. Seems to be moving and locked in place.
Probably just a problem with the gauge. I haven't tried to figure it out.

O O O, I know this one. (I THINK)
Sorry, got a bit excited b/c I actually think I have the answer to a technical question.
Mine recently did the same thing, so here's what I figured out my problem was...
If you'll look at your throttle you'll notice there is a green cable that comes out from it. Follow this back to the taps guage. You'll see that it is spliced and splits into two leads. These two leads should be on the left and right side of the guage. The nut on one of the bolts on the back of the guage came off, so the wire came loose. Easy enough fix, locate the nut in your floor, or go buy some from the hardware store and lock the wire w/ the ring terminal back in place.

Don't you hate it when your nut hits the floor, ouch!!!!

I found the problem was that the needle in the TAPS gauge is stuck. As per prior posts, if I tap on the gauge it will read the correct position. But then usually goes back to where it was stuck. Looks like I need a new gauge. I assume there is no way to fix these gauges? Anyone know what it costs to get a new gauge? Can I only get this from the dealer?

Mine's done this for years. I'm still able to tap on it to get it to work.

Since this is probably a FARIO gauge, just ask for a replacement . . . they have a lifetime warranty . . . just replaced mine after five years of use . . . easy to do if you mark all the wires prior to removing . . . it's worth it . . . working great this season . . . Steve

Well, my TAPS gauge stopped working this weekend. We were cruising around so I had it set on 1, after a restart, it was at 7 and would not move. Pump runs, plate moves, gauge just stopped! I'll post back when I find something.

Turns out it was the TAPS gauge. I sent it back to Faria (with the required $10) and got a new gauge. Only problem is, I'm not sure how to hook it back up. I know where the ground goes. But I have two green wires (from the sender, I assume) and a purple wire, that is power. There is a tag on the gauge that says not to attach power to this terminal or you will ruin your sender. I have no idea why they did not send any wiring diagram with the gauge. Can anyone help?
Thanks
