Ok, I admit it. I am an old fart that is not hip about the current sound systems. I guess just using the word "hip" proves that I am not!

I just bought a 2003 Tige 22I-R. The fellow I bought it from raved about the stereo system he had installed. It looked and sounded great to me, but I really had no idea what I was looking at.

Can some of you audiophiles out there tell me what I have? On a scale of 1-10.....How does this system look to you.

Clarion XMD3 tuner
MTX Thunder 895 Amp
Jensen 400 watt amp
Audiobahn 12" Subwoofer
Some other 6" Subwoofer
4- Boss B50 tower speakers
Varios Clarion speakers throghout the boat

What do you think?

looks like an average quality system...not the high-end and not thelow-end, but somewhere in between.

the most important thing should be how it sounds. Maybe find some other boats with systems on them and compare yours vs. theirs. If you find yourself constantly impressed by others, then you may talk to them about whats different. If you find that your still happy with yours when compared to others, then you're system is on par and makes you happy.

unless you're competing in a sound competition, if your systems sounds good to you, then it's all good. no need to spend thousands to have the "big nutts" on the lake, unless you just really like the "image" thing.

I think that sounds like a pretty nice system. I agree with what Jeffro said though, It's all about how it sounds and how it compares to your standards and unless your in for who has the best system, you've got a nice setup...

tigetex,
that looks great, the only thing I might change is the Jensen 400 Watt amp. From the set up it looks like the jensen is powering your B-50's, you would probably get a ton better sound out of them if you had a higher quality amp. That jensen probably pushes 50W x 4, the speakers which are mb quarts I think can handle more rms than that. Maybe look for an amp that pushes 75W x 4 and the B50's will sound better. That would be my only suggestion.

Any opinions and / or experience with the 04 Tige' factory optional sound systems ?

Premium Sound System, Power Premium Sound System, and Tower of Power System .. just curious how Tige' Factory Systems compare to other systems in about the same price ranges ..

thanks ..

You can get a much better system for the same price by ordering no system on the boat and having an aftermarket system installed. This goes for all boats and cars. If you aren't into that and aren't much of an audiophile, than the stock system will be fine.

The last time I checked, that stock system was about $2k. For $2k, you can have a lot of fun with a boat. 3 sets of high end component speakers in a boat, higher quality deck with XM, MP3, anti shock cd, etc., multiple higher end amps, REAL enclosed subs, and nice tower speakers.

Not to discredit Tige or any other boat or car manufacture, but they just can't compete on quality or price if you want to get a nice system in your boat.
