Gas Cap location

Is there a reason or some line of thought as to why the gas filler cap is located on the right side/passenger/starboard side of the boat? I have not looked at all but most of the tow vehicles I have encountered have the gas filler cap on the left/driver side.
Some of the gasoline stations pump hoses do not extend forcing one to turn the vehicle and trailer around to fill both the boat and truck during the same refueling stop. I suspect there is a reason???

What boat do you have? The newer models have the filler on the Port side of the boat.

My suburban had the filler on the same right side as my boat. It ws great. Now my new Sequoia has it on the left, and I have the same problem as you. I think the car manufacturers are the ones that changed it up. It is smarter having the filler on the left, so you don't have to walk around the vehicle to get to it.

The BEST answer to this is what you will find on the newer Nautiques... there is a single gas tank with a filler cap on BOTH sides that go into the same tank!! I love that feature. A friend of mine has an '04 Pro Air Naut and that is a feature I would love to have on my Tige as my F-150 gas door is on the opposite side.

I have a 04 Switch and 04 Ford Expedition.
They both have it on the LEFT side

I think it's fairly simple to add another fill line and cap on the other side. Just buy the appropriate filler cap asembly and spice into the fill line.
Any comments from anyone?

i dont think i would mess with adding another filler on the other side. That sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

You would need two barbs on the tank to connect two fill hoses to. You do not want to just "T" into the fill hose.

I still am confused. why not install a second fill nozzle on the opposite side, the internal hose spices(tee's) into the hose that fills the tank.
I've heard that some other boat companies have dual fill connections. I think it was the malibu boats.
What's the danger, the gas will always flow into the tank and the opposite side has an oveflow, the opposite side has the cap on.
I still can;t see the danger unless we are not talking about the same thing.

Wouldn't you have to vent the second fuel filer line as well? Or is just the one sufficient?

I would vent the second one, basically duplicate the original.
