uploading to member gallery

I've been trying to upload a picture to the member gallery, and keep getting a message that the file is too big. I've tried zipping down a bmp, gif, and jpeg with same results. The biggest one was only 343kb. What's up?

The maximum upload file size limit is 80 kb. Try compress your image some more. Let me know if you need any help or assistance on compressing the image.
