Vapor lock?

On several occassions in the last few months my 2002 23v has apparently vapor locked. This always occurs after we have been running for a while then sit for more than a few minutes. The engine generally does not start but if it does it just sputters and will not accelerate. Each time I depress the air valve on the fuel line near the fuel injection and air followed by hot fuel comes out when I turn on the key (to make the fuel pump start). Then the boat runs fine. Any suggestions about fixing this problem or am I going to just have to continue the above process each time it occurs (I already miss TigeMD).

i have this problem aswell on my 20I atleast you have a relese valve i just wait with the cowl up and start it peroidicly but after it happening so much i've just gotten use to leaving the cowl up after its been used hard untill i use it again and that seemed to solve the problem

i also had a problem with vapor lock once. it happened several weeks ago and my boy and his friend were tubing and i was driving the tige real hard and after the riders flew off i tried to go back and get them,but i had no control at all.and in the mean time my boy and his friend were far out there and no way of getting them..pretty nerve racking with them out there with boats around.
it took approximately 5-10 minutes to get my boat running.
my boat is 2004 20v switch.
to 20 up what is a cowl...i'm still learning.

I had this happen this past weekend. I took the gas cap off and let it sit for a few minutes, then it ran great. Have no idea why it worked, but it did.

my neighbour takes his fuel/water filter off and fills it back up with gas and it works fine after that he has a gekko v drive

I have not had this happen but was just wondering if leaving the blower on would help, especially since 20up said that leaving the engine cover open helps.

how long could you leave the blower on? i hate chillin in teh middle of the lake for hrs on end and having this happen in 90+ heat

What engine do you have?
I have a Marine Power 5.7, and have never had this problem.
I take my boat out to AZ all the time; the high during the day can hit the low 120’s.

Has any body check to see if their tank breather is working. I know that when I got my boat, the breather line was kinked just after the fitting on the hull. I ran the hose a different direction.
Just a thought.

I have the 315hp Mecruiser engine. What and where is the tank breather? I had posted a question before which may be related. On several occassions when filling my tank with gas, I have had gas spill out of the vent on the side of the boat. This occurs before the tank is full and seem to happen less if I don't fill too fast. Still do not know if the 2 problems are related but both began this summer.

The Tank breather and Vent is the same thing.
There should be a check valve in the vent / breather line to prevent gas from come up.
My check valve is Black in color and looks like a small piece of plastic pipe.
It is located about 10 inches back from the hull, by the master power switch.
