I BOUGHT MY SECOND TIGE IN A YEAR IN JUNE. I SOLD MY "PERFECT" 22v IN ORDER TO HAVE THE BIGGER MORE POWERFUL 24v . I PURCHASED THE VOTEC 380HP ENGINE. I AM STILL INSIDE THE BREAK-IN PERIOD WITH 13 HOURS. THE FIRST TIME I FILLED UP THE TANK THE STALL ALARM SOUNDED AND THE BOAT QUIT AS I WAS LEAVING THE GAS ISLAND UNDER IDLE SPEED. LATER WHEN I WAS PULLING MY 5 YEAR OLD ON ON HIS WAKEBOARD THE ENGINE WOULD ACT LIKE IT WAS FLOODING. I COULD NOT INCREASE SPEED TO SMOOTH IT OUT, I HAD TO GO TO NEUTRAL AND LEAVE MY KID IN THE WATER WONDER WHAT I WAS DOING TO HIS PSYCHE. THE NEXT TWO TIMES OUT NO PROBLEM. THEN YESTERDAY I WAS RUNNING AT 25 MPH AND THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD WHINE AND THEN A THUD !I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO NEUTRAL AND PRAYED. I SLOWLY CREPT ALONG THEN APPLIED MORE POWER AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE...UNTIL MY SON WANTED TO WAKEBOARD AND THE STALL/FLOOD THING HAPPENED AGAIN...
THE BOAT NEVER FIES RIGHT UP LIKE MY OLD ONE DID. IT SOMETIMES TAKES SEVERAL CRANKS TO FIRE IT UP. THERE ARE ABOUT 180 BOATS AT MY MARINA ALL USING THE SAME GAS. NO FUEL RELATED PROBLEMS REPORTED.
MY LAST COMPLAIT IS THAT AFTER SPENDING OVER $100,000 ON NEW TIGES IN THE LAST YEAR I STILL DO NOT HAVE A BOAT THAT HAS A PROPERLY OPERATING FULL GAGE! I ADDED 29 GALLONS OF FUEL AND THE GAGE WAS READING JUST ABOVE 3/4 OF A TANK. IT ALSO PEGS OUT PAST FULL UNTIL I THUMP IT TO GET IT WORKING.
THOUGHTS?
THANKS,

MOTLEY:
I demo'ed a 24 that had very much the same problem. It had the same motor, etc. It turned out that there are two fuel pumps, one on the motor (high pressure for injectors) and one in the boat (low pressure for proper volume). The boat pump has a connector that was either loose or not installed correctly (not sure which, I didn't actually see the wires). Once they plugged the wire in correctly, the boat started and ran fine, it was just not getting enough fuel.
Easy fix, just have to locate the wires. I would probably wire-tie them together to keep that from happening again if that is the problem.
Hope that helps.

THANKS. I WILL CHECK IT OUT TONIGHT IF I CAN GET UP TO THE LAKE. LEE, IF YOU ARE LURKING WHAT DO YOU THINK?
CURT
I think Alan had the same problem on his boat and it also was a loose wire on the fuel pump on the starboard side of the boat. All we did was just plug the wire by up and no more problems.

Curt - I noticed your in Franklin, what lake do you have your 24V stored?
Did you use to own the the lime green 22V?
We also have an '05 24v w/ the 6.0L 380hp (as a demo boat, we are a dealer), and it does the same exact thing. However, in an entirely different conversation with someone at MarinePower, i mentioned this to them. They told me there is an ECU recal available for the 6.0L motors.
I got the ECU yesterday and installed it, but did not take the boat for a ride yet. Planning on boarding tonight. Apparently, marinepwoer says there could be a noticeable performance improvement. Who knows.
Sorry to all the Tige dealers who are now going to get hammered with phone calls asking about the ECU recalibration.
If it does not fix the problem, I will be sure to post it back here to save some fellow tige dealers the explanations.

FKM - Has there been any ECU problems reported with the 335/340 HP MarinePower engines?
not that i am aware of, and I havent had any of our customers report poor idle / hesitation issues.

After reading this, i should have specified "recal" is referring to Re-Calibration, not Recall. Again, there is no Recall on the ECUs.
Just wanted to clarify that.

FKM,
Did the recal of the ECU fix the problem? Did you notice a performance improvement?
Thanks
Yes, low end sputter was completely removed, especially when shifting from neutral to forward. Idle seems higher than before, around 800rpm now, that may have something to do with it. But overall, the entire engine seems to run smoother at all RPMs.
It does seem like it has slightly less power than before, perhaps there was a slight detune in the new ECU, or maybe it just takes some time to learn the timing advance values.
