Help with ballast install on 20V

Hi all, I am new to this community but am looking for some help upgrading the ballast in a 2008 20V. I am getting ready to help a friend remove the factory tanks in the rear locker and change with ballast bags. Some of the questions I have are:

1. Does Tige use aerator or ballast puppy style pumps in that boat?
2. Does anyone know the size of the rear lockers and which bags will work best on that boat? I am thinking the 750's are the ones to get.
3. Is there enough room in the bow to add an integrated bow sac and has anyone ever piggy backed it off the existing front tanks?
4. Any other things that I should know before starting this project?

Sorry for some of the questions on the size bags and what not, but we cannot get to the boat until Sunday and would like to get things ordered asap.

Just to give you all a little background on me this isn't my first ballast upgrade. I currently own an 08 Super Air 210 that I installed a piggy back system on. Previously had an 07 210 set up the same way. Also installed from scratch a system on my 02 MC 197 a few years ago. And just helped another friend switch out his stock aerator pumps with ballast puppies, removed hard tanks and replaced with bags on his 06 V Ride. I am not familiar with the Tige system though. I have only been on this boat two times and didn't have a chance to look over the ballast sytem. Thanks for any help and reccomendations in advance. I can't wait to get this project done and see how the wake compares to my Nautique. I am sure we will be very happy with the upgrade.

All I know is that there is plenty of room for the 750's in the 20v. Lots of room back there.

It has aerator style pumps and I think the 750's would work good back there. I am not sure about up front as that boat is really cramped in the bow. I think he would be better off getting a sac and putting it on top of the seats if he plans on filling the rear up completely. I really dont think youd be able to get much more than 300-350 lbs in a integrated sack under the seats. I also think if you piggyback these sacks you might need another pump to empty the sac (Not sure on this though)

Thanks for the info guys. Highrock, I was suprised to see you reply on here....didn't know you followed this forum also. You are probably right on the front sac. When I was talking to my friend last night that owns the boat I had told him the same thing you mentioned that it would probably be more beneficial to place a triangle sac on the front seat and use a psunami style pump to fill and empty it.

Fit wise, the factory bow sac that Tige used in the Z1's would be better then the Fly High W711 integrated bow sac, but I dont know if it would be cost effective. One other option would be to cut out the bulk-head walls between the bow storage and the mid-ship storage. This would allow the bow sac to stretch out more and hold more water.

i dont want to cut any of the walls out and compromise the stregnth of the boat.. we put the 750 fly high sacs in there last night and ordered the front sac that sits on the seat.. winter i think ima have fly high make me a custom sac 4 the front. if anyone else that has a 20v is interested we could try to work them 4 a deal on a few of them.. let me know..

I don't see any way to get more than maybe 150 up front under the seets. The side bow seats just don't have much room under them. If you figure this out though, I may be interested I a custom sack (price dependent).

If you guys want an estimate on mini bow sac, some just needs to draw it up on the Fly High custom sac PDF and email it to me. I will get an estimate back in about 24hrs. If you do it, leave the top of the form blank, just draw the sac and put in measurements and valve number and placement.

I will see if I can get a price on the Z1 bow sac.

I cant remember how separate it is, but on the few I have done stereos in, I do know you can pass wire through the nose.

If it is indeed too closed off to do a U shaped mini bow sac, the IMO, the next best option would be a pair of W703 Side Sacs. They are a bit long at 48", but are 12W x 12H. They are rated at 260lbs each, but probably only fill to about 175 each. "T" those together with a couple Fat Bricks in the mid-ship storage, and have about 650lbs of hidden bow weight.

Can some one with an 08 Z1 with factory ballast confirm what type of sac or sacs you have in the bow??? Is it on "U" shaped or 2 sacs.

Yes, we put a 400lb sac on the floor up front and had two people sitting in the bow. He also ordered a triangle bow sac that we will use in place of the 400lb sac on the floor. His boat is equipped with the TAPS and I am pretty sure we kept it down until we were up on plane. You definately need weight in the front as well or your boat will porpoise. The wake was very nice. Not quite as large as the wake on my Nautique but it was very firm and had a nice transition. FWIW I road great behind it and think it is a great wake to ride now.

yes i could plane out.. just have to set taps on 1 and then when it planes set it where you need it .. it was like 4 or 5 ... any higher and the boat starts porpoising.. it throws a great wake

I just checked and the two front storage compartments are connected on the 20v. Very little room though.
