I recently switched from a three blade ss prop to a four blade nibral prop. When I cobb the throttle the prop sounds like it cavitates (engine revs up) for a few seconds then grabs and off we go. If I ease into it, it does not do it. I never had this problem with my three blade. I have also noticed that I get more speed for the same revs on the engine with the four blade. I think they are bith 13-pitch props.
Is this something I need to worry about? Could my trans be slipping?
I changed from a three blade to a four bladed prop last year and I have not noticed the cavitation you describe.
However, I feel the performance was better with the three bladed prop so as soon as I get my three blade back from the shop I'm going to put it back on and use the four blade as the spare.

Do you guys mainly wakeboard???
I found just the opposite, the four blade gave me better wakes for sking.
And a better hole shot.

It usually only occurs when I am pulling up a wakeboarder. I think the four blade does give me a better hole shot and better speed.
I may try putting my three blade back on and see if it will do it with the three blade. If it doesn't, I guess i can rule out a tranny problem. I may just have to change my driving habits a little bit.

I think mine is an ACME but I am not sure. The boat is at the lakehouse so I can not check it until this weekend, but I will let you know.
Is there a problem that you know of with certain brands of props?

I'm running an OJ 13 x 13 four blade nibral
ACME, I think it's a 13x12.5 but I'm not 100% sure, I keep my boat on a lift at the lake so I'll check it this weekend.
