I go on several Lake Powell trips every year and would love more fuel capacity. I have a 2005 24V. Has anyone installed extra fuel tanks? I have a buddy in the stainless fabrication biz, I am thinking of having two tanks made that sit on either side of the motor. I am looking at somewhere near 20 gallons each. Any ideas on connections or anything in general would be appreciated. Also what are your thoughts on extra ballast of upfront? On at least one trip each summer we anchor up Escalante canyon and have to transport all gas for the trip. Great area, water and scenery are some of the best, but a long ways from anywhere.

Not to be negative, but wouldn't "portable" tanks work. I know we carry several on our houseboart for the *gasp* PWC's. We usually carry them on the swim platform, bungee strapped down. If you had a place to leave them while you board, I think it would keep you from using all that space by the engine. My $.02

Yes we carry portables. Last year we had three boats and each took ten five gallons portables and we still had to head back to the marina for gas midweek. Two of the boats with us also had 75 gallon tanks. I wish Tige' had a bigger tank. We will leave camp sometimes at sunrise and not come back until sundown, Usually a sight seeing day with play mixed in. My Tige' won't make it on a day like that, that's why I am thinking of more internal fuel storage. I'm sure we'll still carry all the other extra gas also.

from a mechanics stand point, don't be suprised if you service bill is much larger than the posted price. there are certain things you can't get to when there is extra "stuff" in the way.

maybe some quick release latch pins to anchor the saddle tanks??? get a house boat/pontoon boat as a dedicated "tanker" with some large farm/private use petrol tanks and rack em on the "tanker."
