The steering wheel on our fslm 2002 seems like it has a lot of play (approx. 2.5 inches). Steering is also kind of stiff. Almost like we are guiding the boat instead of steering it. What is the correct amount of play and how is it adjusted? Thanks in advance

if your steering is tight then you will most likely be replaceing the cable. when the cable stiffens up it tends to put more strain on the tilt helm knuckle, causing it tl come loose. peel the rubber boot behind the steering whell towards you and look down into the helm. inside you will see an aluminum knuckle, there are two screws (gold) that run through the knuckle. check to make sure they are tight.
there should be very little or no play in the steering.

the cable you need is a 17ft. rotary. and the water hose is nothing special. you can buy that hose from a auto parts store. just take the old one with you. i probably do have the cable in stock. are you in so. cal.?

I'm in South O.C. I pass your shop on the way to Havasu all the time. I have avoided stopping in as I am sure I will catch "NEW BOAT FEVER".
