Crazy

I still laugh at you guys who think that 3 little seatbelts are going to hold your boat down.....

I had been in a Truck boat accident. Got side swiped head on and the other car hit front of boat seed it end over end into a front yard in about a 100 pieces. Also a total right off, but drove the truck home. Scary

Would the boat have stayed on the trailer without straps, nope! COULD it have stayed on, yes, in most situations.

Condoms are 99% effective, not wearing one, well, take your chances.

Question is, do you really WANT the boat to stay on the trailer and drag you all over the place as your crashing. 5500lbs will take over in a hurry and take you with it.

Yeh, I think I would much rather have that mass going it's own direction rather than dictating my direction. A lot of energy is dissipated in the process. My opinion of straps is just to keep the boat from boucing on the trailer. Unless you are using crane rigging straps the normal straps will break under sudden stress. Even chains would not help in many situations.

Wow! I can't even imagine the wild ride they had! I don't think the straps were ever designed for the g-forces that it took to sling the boat off of that trailer like that.

I am still going to hold my ground that these are the dumbest comments ever. Quite possibly that momentum would have gone straight though the bed of the truck without the straps to at least do something to alter the trajectory.

And like was said above, in a slower speed accident, those straps are the difference between some minor damage and a total loss. In this case, it would not have mattered. But talking to the non-strap folks I have found to be a waste of time. I put my straps on.

I always thought it helped to have the straps keep the boat settled down on the trailer just to reduce the jarring going down the freeway. Feel like my boat gets beat up less if I have it held down to the trailer. Maybe not, but makes me feel better

I don't appreciate being called dumb.

Your comments were addressed... not you the person. I hope you can process the difference.

I do agree that the straps are a very good idea for highway traveling for several reasons.
